The Panhandle

You can find most, if not all of the LGBTQ+ nightlife in Pensacola on the Florida Panhandle. If you’re planning to sing, make sure you bring your A game. It’s a great place to dance the night away, enjoy happy hour, relax on the outdoor patio, or experience live weekly entertainment.

With four bars each with its own entertainment, including go-go dancers, drag shows, dancing, games, and more. Catering to the bear and leather communities, head out back and relax on the patio, grab a drink at the bar, shoot some pool, or maybe show off your talent at weekly karaoke.

The Cabaret Pensacola

A gay bar with a friendly feel is the best way to describe The Cabaret Pensacola.

Weekend nights are always great times to stop in as the Drag Show Revue is where all the glitz and glam are on full display.

Twisted Rooster Bar

“Gay, straight, or something in between, everyone is welcome” is the motto by which everyone  at the Twisted Rooster Bar lives.

Gym Sportsbar

Is the Gym Sportsbar a workout place? It’s not quite Cheers-worthy, but it’s close. 

926 Bar & Grill

926 W Tharpe Street, Tallahassee

The capital city of Florida is where you find 926 Bar & Grill.

Up to date information guide and directory - bars, clubs, taverns, pubs, nightclubs, entertainment, lounges, dance, disco, tea-dance, video, karaoke, drag, nightspots, nightlife, country western, cruise, cocktail, party and sports bars. Put on your cowboy boots and hat every Monday for Full Moon Mondays for some two-steppin’ and country line dancing. 

Hank’s Bar

5026 Edgewater Drive, Orlando

One of the oldest gay bars in Orlando, Hank’s Bar is that friendly, neighborhood, no-frills bar where “everybody knows your name.” Leave your plastic at home, Hank’s is a cash only bar with no cover.

Wilton Manors and South Beach, known locally as “The Gay Villages,” have an unlimited number of LGBTQ+ bars and nightclubs.

Georgie’s Alibi Monkey Bar

2266 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors

Georgie’s Alibi Monkey Bar is the perfect mix of a restaurant, bar, and nightclub all rolled into one! Its decor features tree trunks stretching from floor to ceiling and a water stream flowing along the length of the bar.

Bars like The Duchess in New York were instrumental in mobilizing women to fight for their rights, while the rise of lesbian feminism brought a more politically charged atmosphere to these spaces.

In these years, bars were not just places to drink or dance—they became spaces for discussion, activism, and community-building.

The feminist movement helped solidify lesbian identity in the U.S., as many women sought independence not just from men but from mainstream gay culture.

The Decline of Lesbian Bars

While lesbian bars flourished in the 1960s and 70s, many began to close in the following decades.

Sage

The rooftop bar at gay-owned Sage is where you want to go for happy hour when your work week ends, or when you’re just ready to get your weekend started. Styled like a den, the bar is dark and decorated in goth style. Police raids were common, and women were often arrested for dancing together or wearing “men’s” clothing.

Bars like Mona’s 440 Club in San Francisco were one of the first lesbian bars in America. LGBT pride events, parades, festivals, GLBT community celebrations.

The Parrot

1030 E Main Street, Lakeland

If you’re looking for the ultimate hangout spot in Lakeland to kick back and have a drink while having a lot of fun, look no further than Florida’s Oldest Gay Bar, The Parrot.

“Stiff drinks, hard liquor, and a raging good time” is the motto of this popular St Petersburg watering hole.

Opened in the Montmartre district, this club became a safe space for women who dressed in tuxedos and sported monocles—symbols of their defiance against societal norms.
