1 cup whole milk

2 cups heavy cream

2 tsp Dijon mustard (smooth, not whole grain)

3 sprigs thyme

2 Tbsp Flour

  1. Gather the ingredients.

  2. Place whole, peeled sweet potato in pot and cover with water; bring to a boil.

    Boil until tender when pierced with a fork, 40 to 50 minutes.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove sweet potato from the pot and run under cold water. Fight me over it. However, the stunningly grim history behind its origins cannot be overlooked. . Light the good candles. As an out and queer adult who has had to go “no contact” with the majority of my family, Thanksgiving has evolved to being a time to rest and be with chosen family.

    Whatever that looks like (as long as it’s safe). It’s only the main course. Once the meal is over, two people make their wishes and break the wishbone. Getting the gravy right? More time in the oven? Over the years I have made my Aunt’s incredible Pecan Pie and each time it actually tastes like hers which I take as a win because everything she makes is amazing.
